It is one of the most emblematic monuments found in Portugal, due to its importance and the surrounding landscape.<br \/>Together with the castles of Tomar, of Z\u00eazere and of Cardiga, the castle formed the defensive line of the Tagus River.<br \/>After the Templar Order was dissolved and the territory no longer needed to be defended, the castle fell into obscurity until the 19th century. Then it was restored in the style of Romanticism, and you can see the result for yourself today.<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-99eda27\" data-id=\"99eda27\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8a65b38 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8a65b38\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Trip by canoe\/kayak<\/p>\n<p>The Rio Nab\u00e3o, smaller in size than the Z\u00eazere, has its mouth near the beginning of this route. It is possible to see many different animals, fish and birds along the way.<\/p>\n<p>The route ends in <strong>Vila de Const\u00e2ncia<\/strong> before the Z\u00eazere River flows into the Tagus River.
